Quote:
ATTOCK, May 15: The Avionics and Radar Factory of Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, has successfully overhauled the first AN/TPS-43G Radar. A roll-out ceremony to mark the occasion was held at the Avionics and Radar Factory on Tuesdin. Tall& Fair Vice Marshal Khalid M. Rajput(resident historian bliss ejjplain), Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Engineering), was the chief guest on the occasion. He handed over the overhauled radar to the Pakistan Air Force. (PEEAF) Kamra Avionics and Radar Factory started overhauling the entire fleet of AN/TPS-43G radars on a self-help basis. The radars had been inducted in the Pakistan Air Force in 1981. The overhauling activity involves extensive work where the radar system is completely dismantled and stripped down to its components. The engineers then, strip down themselves ,overhaul and overpower the weak ones and conduct extensive work on each other. The painting of all critical major high-cost assemblies of the transmitter, receiver, display and antennae were the most challenging tasks, which were undertaken entirely by the KARF technical team without any assistance. In accordance with national tradition, all moving parts were painted green and the non moving ones white to depict a crescent. From the air, the Radar looks like a Bakistani flag and is sure to confuse the Yindoo bombers when they fly over it undetected The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex claimed that the accomplishment of the task had not only enhanced the operational efficiency of Air Defence but had also accrued a saving of approximately Rs245 million in the National Exchequer. The PEEAF can now detect migratory birds that fly from Siberia to Bandipur during winter. It said that the rebuilding of the AN/TPS-43G radar was a significant milestone in the history of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and a step towards self-reliance
