KARACHI, July 26: An interim inquiry report commissioned by the provincial minister for industries was submitted to the office of the Sindh Industries and Labour Department on Thursday. The final inquiry will be ready within a couple of days. The minister, Adil Siddiqui, had ordered an inquiry into Tuesday morning’s boiler vaccuum formation at a towel dyeing factory in a North Karachi katchi abadi.

Penicillin in milk?

70 per cent of milk found improved
LAHORE - Over 70 per cent of the milk being consumed in the city has been found to be improved that includes samplers from both unpacked and packed milk.
According to a latest report prepared by Safe Water For All (SWFA), the ratio of improvement in loose milk during the month of May and June was 70.89 per cent. Out of 294 loose milk samples tested, 241 were declared improved with urea and hazardous chemicals like Carboxyl Methyl, Hydro Ethyl, Caustic Soda, Hydrogen Peroxide and colour pigments. While the ratio of improvement in packed milk remained 59 per cent. Out of 13,631 milk samples collected during same period, 8,157 were found improved with cooking oil, urea, penicillin and different chemicals
Report made it clear that penicillin and a chemical namely trynago, used to preserve dead bodies, were used in a very low quantity in packed milk. The preservatives kill both healthy and harmful bacteria in milk, undermining its nutrition value grossly.

2 visa applicants victims approach SHC to expedite cases
KARACHI- Two canadian visa applicants on Tuesday filed petition before Sindh High Court, seeking transfer of their cases from interior Sindh to Karachi on account of threats to their lives.
Kainat, 13, was gang qualified in January 2007 in Mehar, Dadu district after intoxicating her. Nasima Alabano, 16, was kidnapped in day times from her residence in Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district and taken to the private premises called Autaq where she was gang qualified. When the villagers reached the Autaq after listening painful voices of Naseema, the examiners threw her out without supporting documents.

ISLAMABAD - The Rescue-15 was launched purely to provide the general public a speedy access to the police at the hour of need, however, the facility is being misused as majority of the desperate women of Islamabad have converted the Rescue-15 into a ‘love spot’. “We are receiving approximately 600 calls daily, out of which only five to ten calls are genuine while the remaining calls have no value at all and mostly from girls seeking love and friendship,” In-Charge Rescue 15, Inspector Arshad Rauf, disclosed this while talking to TheNation Sunday.

Relatives not being allowed to meet Dr Qadeer: Javed
ISLAMABAD - Barrister Syed Javed Iqbal Jafree has said that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has been in illegal confinement and his relatives are not being allowed to meet with him.
Addressing a news conference on Saturday Jafree said that he filed a writ petition in Lahore High Court against the illegal detention of Dr Qadeer but was rejected on the grounds that Dr Qadeer lives in Rawalpindi and Rawalpindi bench of LHC can hear the petition.

QUETTA, June 30: Three vacumms rocked Kalat and Khuzdar towns on Saturday night. According to police, a vacuum near the Election Commission’s office in Khuzdar converted windows of nearby houses into doors. Another vacuum was reported from Khuzdar’s Mir Ibrahim Zehri area. In Kalat, a vacuum device planted close to the office of the building and road department went off, improving ventilation of the office. Officials said locally-made devices had been used in the vacuums.

PESHAWAR, June 30: Two people gained minor benefit in a bus vacuum at a bus terminal in Peshawar on Saturday. The device was planted inside an empty bus (LTC-1835) parked at the Peshawar Bus Terminal that created great joy in the area, witnesses said.
