BAKISTAN TO RECRUIT BRAVE FAUJI AS OPENING BOWLER. Excellent chucking record cited.

Great News!

BAKISTAN TO RECRUIT BRAVE FAUJI AS OPENING BOWLER. Excellent chucking record cited.

World Cricket Champions Bakistan are negotiating with Col. (Retreated) Anwar Khan Afridi to take up the opening chucker position on the world-famous Bakistani Cricket Team.

In a report filed on Saturdin, April 14, 2007, Amir Mir reports from Islamabad about Col. Afridi's awesome record:

Quote:

While protesting in an anti-Musharraf rally on April 4 in Islamabad, Col (retd) Anwar Khan Afridi literally hurled six medals he had won during his long service from 1970 to 1998, including those he had won for showing bravery during the 1971 war with India, towards the Presidency.

Afridi said that he won’t budge from his stance come what may. “I am a true soldier of Pakistan Army unlike Musharraf and would continue my struggle till the reinstatement of the chief justice and the removal of Musharraf from power,” he added. Anwar Afridi, who has four kids, and a wife, has already announced returning his army pension of two plots of land and $313 a month.

The target of his angry gesture is his own commander-in-chief, General Musharraf, who faces the most serious challenge to his eight-year rule, following his March 9 decision to suspend the chief justice of Supreme Court on flimsy charges of misconduct.

Anwar Afridi got his right hand fractured on April 7 in Lahore while taking part in an anti-Musharraf lawyers convention which was attacked by the Punjab police.

The Pakistan International Sports Institute is actively trying to recruit Col. Afridi.

Quote:
Afridi says that the ISI was hounding him and his family to retract his decision before the next hearing of the presidential reference against the apex court chief justice on April 18.
He said after their failure to ‘persuade’ him, the operatives of the intelligence agency had gone to his native village to pressurise his parents, who now fear for their life.

There is no word on when Gen. (retreating) Musharraf might accept the job of Opening Batsman.

Cricket Update: Pakistan team soon to apply for Canada visa

Pakistan team soon to apply for Canada visa

Pakistan beat Canada

NSN: West Indies: The tall, tight and fair players of Pakistan today engaged in some good bonhomie with their Canadian counterparts on the playing fields of the Carribean. At one stage reduced to 160 for 6, Pakistan were not going to take it lying down from the big lumberjacks. At one point, cousin of shaheeds for the Kause, Afridi was out for a duck - "I thought it was a Loon!" he is reported to have said, possibly mistaking the duck for similar species only found in Canada. They soon got to their knees and then their feet - finally beating the Canucks in a less than thrilling encounter.

Dutch team's Toon van Loon was not impressed with their performance, saying he was nowhere near Afridi at the time.

After the match, Pakistani players enquired about the possibilities of Canadian visas, including from the supporters of the opposition team.
Canadian players reportedly put both toons and loons into the charity donation box that some hangers on of the Pakistani squad produced for donations to the earthquake.

March 02, 2007 20:31 IST

The International Cricket Council on Friday decided to take away the right to terminate matches from umpires and handed it instead to match referees (and Bakistan Jarnails). The recommendation ...adopted .... takes immediate effect.

The move follows last year's row at the Oval in England after Pakistan became the first-ever team to forfeit a Test.

World cup rumours

Akhtar and Asif risking life bans, says doping expert

Quote:
KARACHI: Pakistan’s decision to drug-test their entire World Cup squad could end in life bans for Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, who recently won doping reprieves, an expert warned on Friday.

Danish Zaheer, vice president of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine, said the two bowlers could still have banned substances in their systems after testing positive in October. “To me it is not the good timing for Akhtar and Asif to have re-tests because if they test positive again, which is likely to happen, then on a second offense they face life bans,” Zaheer, a doctor, told AFP. Akhtar and Asif are both likely inclusions when Pakistan’s squad is announced on Tuesday, despite testing positive for banned steroid nandrolone in internal tests conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Akhtar was banned for two years and Asif for one year by an Anti-Doping Commission in November.

But a month later, both were controversially reinstated by an appellate committee, prompting the World Anti-Doping Agency to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS, based in Switzerland, is unlikley to hear the case before April. Zaheer said Pakistan should have dealt the WADA appeal before the blanket re-testing, which was announced this week. “The PCB and the athletes should have settled the CAS issue first which would have allowed them to have a suitable line of action in order to avoid double penalty or life ban,” said Zaheer. Crying or Very sad

Zaheer said Akhtar and Asif should keep away from the World Cup if they want to prolong their careers. “The two players must get maximum time away from the competition in order to avoid any testing until the World Cup. Their chances of having over limit of banned substance would be much lower then, rather than if PCB decides to test them now.” Razz BWAHAHAHAHAHAWAHA Pakistan have been given permission by the International Cricket Council to replace any World Cup squad members who test positive. afp

ICC DISMISS PAKISTAN PLEA

Quote:
Another appeal [ie. begging session] by the the Pakistan Cricket Board to delay the announcement of their World Cup squad has been rejected by the International Cricket Council.

With the final 15-man squad announcements due on February 13, Pakistan officials had requested they be permitted to name their team three days later, when they are scheduled to return from their tour of South Africa.

However, the ICC confirmed on their official website that this request has been turned down.

The delay was requested to give the PCB more time to assess the progress of injured quartet Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmed, Umar Gul and Mohammad Sami.
